When should you see a chiropractor?

Chiropractors treat much more than just back problems. They can treat problems relating to the joints or nervous system and many other health issues.

Instead of medicine, chiropractic techniques include manual therapy, exercise, adjustments, Active Release Techniques®, stretching and other approaches. A chiropractor can help you regain or improve your mobility so you can live a more active lifestyle.

When is it the right time to see a chiropractor? Watch for these warning signs:

Are you in pain?
Do your joints hurt?
Are you having headaches?
Do you have back, neck or shoulder pain?
Have you been in an accident?
Are you stiff and achy?
Is your mobility restricted?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, you may want to consider seeking chiropractic treatment or care.

A doctor of chiropractic is trained to treat and manage health problems for people of all ages with different needs:

  • Busy parents who get backaches from doing a lot of lifting, driving and housework can benefit from chiropractic care, which can relieve and manage pain.
  • If you’ve “slept funny” and have a sore neck or a stiff neck and shoulders, a chiropractic adjustment or A.R.T.® can relieve joint stress and tight muscles.
  • If you spend long days in front of a computer and have pain in your back, neck or shoulders, chiropractic treatment can help to improve your mobility.
  • Some headaches can be treated and managed with chiropractic care.
  • If you’ve suffered a motor vehicle or workplace accident, a chiropractor can help treat your injuries and promote recovery.

This may sound cliché, but listen to your body. No matter what others say, only you know what you are feeling within your muscles and joints.
