Sharon is passionate about helping people get mobile, stay fit and be healthy.

As MHN’s co-founder and director of clinical services and as a registered physiotherapist, Sharon is deeply involved in client care, as well as MHN’s fitness programs and community initiatives.

The most rewarding aspect of her work is helping people to feel better and stronger. “Physio is a gentle, non-invasive approach, and we are here to help,” she says. “I want to help people achieve greatness, and remind them that anything is possible as long as you try.”

As a physiotherapist, Sharon uses a holistic approach with her clinical expertise to treat and address the root causes of health problems related to neuromusculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory health.

“Physiotherapists have a variety of skills: we incorporate using our hands, manual therapy, other electrical machines and tools, and exercise,” she says. “They’re all part of a complex formula to take away the pain and restore strength. Athletes can go back to training and competition. We teach and explain causes and how to prevent problems from returning.”

Sharon helps people who have been injured or are living with a chronic condition. She has over 15 years’ experience working in private and public health care in orthopaedics, neurology, ergonomic and functional capacity evaluations, workplace health and safety, and general health and wellness.

Since graduating from Queen’s University, Sharon has taken several advanced-level courses, including Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) and Bobath technique, vestibular rehabilitation and acupuncture. Sharon is a member of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and the College of Physiotherapists of British Columbia. She is actively involved with the Neurosciences Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

When Sharon’s not treating patients or teaching others how to run, she’s training for races and triathlons. In fact, Sharon first became interested in physiotherapy when she was running competitively. “We trained daily and the workouts were hard, so I had a lot of injuries,” she explains. “The physiotherapists that treated our team were amazing. It was fascinating to learn what they could do to heal injuries. Seeing them at work inspired me to help people get better and reach their goals.”

As a competitive athlete, she understands the importance of quick recovery and preparation for sports competition. She has worked with many athletes and has motivated many others to get active and improve performance, in combination with the Pinnacle Sport Performance team at MHN. Sharon also leads running clinics in the community.

In her spare time, Sharon enjoys travelling. She plays the piano and spends time outdoors with her husband and their dog. Come and meet Sharon and her team at MHN’s physiotherapy clinics in Milton and Mississauga.
